Hi everyone
Well it feels like quite a big day back for me this morning. I’m feeling a very mixed range of emotions as I prepare for my first match back this afternoon after what has obviously been a very tough few weeks.
I’m really looking forward to getting going again today in my qualifying match for the Shanghai
Masters. I feel excited but at the same time a bit anxious and naturally there is a little pressure too. But I feel enthusiastic about playing again, getting competing and getting stuck in again. It will be great to get back amongst it all and see my friends and colleagues on the tour and get back to doing what I do – and apart from anything else it’s been a while since I’ve had a pay day!! haha
I’ve managed to get back on the practice table recently and I’m quite happy with how I’m hitting the ball in practice to be honest but given all the circumstances I just hope I can produce this weekend and get off to a winning return. The Shanghai
Masters is a tournament I enjoy actually – not just because of my win there but I have begun to enjoy my trips to Shanghai and make the most of the downtime in between matches, having sniffed out a few nice hotels, bars, restaurants and shopping places over the years.
No doubt all of you reading will know someone who has been affected by ‘The Big C’. Touch wood, while I am not necessarily completely out of the woods yet I seem to have been very lucky with my operation and how things have gone for me – I just need some regular checks and monitoring now going forward but hopefully I can just pick up and crack on now – get back to full strength, my normal routine and my normal life again.
Finally, I would like to say how touched and humbled I was by all the support and good wishes I received from so many people over the last few weeks. My sincere gratitude and thanks to everyone.
See you on the baize, and hopefully a
TV screen near you all soon!
All the best
The Cap
