Tennessee vs. Missouri
How will the Tigers respond after a devastating loss to South Carolina? Check out our college
football picks for their showdown with the Vols.
Odds Overview
The college
football odds have Missouri favored by 10.5 points at most books, though a spread as high as 11.5 can also be found if you fancy a Tennessee cover and want the best value you can get.
Image previewBoth offenses have shown they can score, so it's no surprise to see a relatively high total of 55.5 points on the board.
Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee also lost last week, only theirs was in blowout fashion against none other than Alabama. The Volunteers were 28-point underdogs for the visit, but ended up losing 45-10.
QB Justin Worley really struggled against the super athleticism of the Crimson Tide defense. He was 8-of-15 for 120 yards and was picked off twice before leaving with a thumb injury. Marquez North caught four balls for 87 yards, while Rajion Neal had 13 carries for 70 yards and Tennessee's only touchdown of the game.
Worley's injury has opened the door for true freshman Josh Dobbs to pick up his first ever official college
football start.
Dobbs did get a taste of the
live action against Alabama, finishing 5-of-12 for 75 yards and adding 19 yards on three rushes. It's certainly going to be interesting to see how the youngster copes against a top-ten team in Missouri.
All in all, this week is yet another difficult challenge for the Vols in what's been a ridiculously tough schedule. They've already faced off against Alabama, Oregon, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida and still have to play Missouri (on the road) and Auburn.
Let's review the betting
odds for Week 10~
Missouri Tigers
Everything was looking peachy for the Tigers after racing out to a 17-0 lead midway through the third quarter.
However, Missouri couldn't find the killer instinct necessary to put the game away. South Carolina clawed their way back, and Connor Shaw came in to lead three touchdown drives and force overtime. In OT, Andrew Baggett missed a chip shot that would have extended the game, leaving the Tigers struggling for answers.
Overall, Maty Mauk was decent but not great, as he ended up completing 10-of-25 passes for 249 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Henry Josey and Marcus Murphy combined for 132 rushing yards and two scores, while L'Damian Washington and Marcus Lucas both had at least 89 receiving yards.
It was Missouri's first loss of the season and the ATS defeat broke a string of five straight covers. The Tigers now stand at 6-1-1 against the spread for the year.
They get another chance to come through for their home fans this weekend and you have to think they'll have a bad taste in their mouths, ready to come out and execute everything to perfection against Tennessee. The Vols are no pushovers though, so the Tigers will have to really step it up.
College
Football Pick
Last year's meeting was as wild as can be, with the Tigers winning 51-48 on a Baggett field goal in overtime.
While we don't foresee that kind of shootout this time around, we do think Missouri is in a good spot to bounce-back and win, both straight up and against the spread.
The Volunteers have shown vast improvements in various areas, but this Tigers team has much more experience and more playmakers overall. We need to keep that in mind when making our college
football picks.
Dobbs is an unknown quantity at quarterback and doesn't have nearly as many weapons surrounding him. While North is the only Vol receiver to log more than 300 receiving yards so far, Missouri has three guys who already have over 447 yards. We're laying the chalk and backing the explosive Tigers at home.
