This Premier Division clash at Hunky Dorys Park was abandoned after the north side of Drogheda was blacked out by an electrical fault.
Bohemians were leading 1-0 thanks to a 31st-minute header by Paddy Madden when the stadium lights went out during the half-time break.
And after a 45-minute delay while attempts were made to have the problem rectified, referee Anthony Buttimer called the game off.
Bohs had headed into the game on the back of a seven-match unbeaten record, although there was precious little evidence of their recent improved form in the opening quarter.
Not that their hosts were any better as both sides struggled to impose themselves on a slippery surface caused by incessant heavy rain.
Gareth McGlynn and Raffaele Cretaro had half-chances for the visitors in the 10th minute during a goalmouth scramble, but the danger was cleared and a minute later Drogheda keeper Paul Murphy saved comfortably from McGlynn after the winger worked space for himself 20 yards out.
Bohs' best chance to date came on 19 minutes when Raffaele Cretaro put Madden away down the right flank and was on hand to take the return pass, only for Corie Treacy to block the ex Sligo striker's shot with his body.
Drogheda could not muster a shot on target in the entire first half, and their only goal attempt was an optimistic 30-yard effort from Ryan Brennan which sailed high over the crossbar in the 22nd minute.
The home fans had precious little else to shout about as Bohemians proceeded to dominate the remainder of the first half, and the champions got their reward on 31 minutes when Mark Quigley aimed an inviting right-footed cross into the box and Madden rose highest to steer a header past Murphy despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball.
But five minutes into the half-time break the lights went out and, with little prospect of the electrical problem being fixed quickly, Mr Buttimer eventually abandoned the game, which will have to be replayed.
